Dye-sublimation printing technology in nowadays' society.

Dye-sublimation printing is a digital printing technology using full color artwork that works with polyester and polymer-coated substrates. Also referred to as digital sublimation, the process is commonly used for decorating apparel, signs and banners, as well as novelty items such as cell phone covers, plaques, coffee mugs, and other items with sublimation-friendly surfaces. The process uses the science of sublimation, in which heat and pressure are applied to a solid, turning it into a gas through an endothermic reaction without passing through the liquid phase.
In sublimation printing, unique sublimation dyes are transferred to sheets of “transfer” paper via liquid gel ink through a piezoelectric print head. The ink is deposited on these high-release inkjet papers, which are used for the next step of the sublimation printing process. After the digital design is printed onto sublimation transfer sheets, it is placed on a heat press along with the substrate to be sublimated.

In order to transfer the image from the paper to the substrate, it requires a heat press process that is a combination of time, temperature and pressure. The heat press applies this special combination, which can change depending on the substrate, to “transfer” the sublimation dyes at the molecular level into the substrate. The most common dyes used for sublimation activate at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. However, a range of 380 to 420 degrees Fahrenheit is normally recommended for optimal color.
The end result of the sublimation process is a nearly permanent, high resolution, full color print. Because the dyes are infused into the substrate at the molecular level, rather than applied at a topical level (such as with screen printing and direct to garment printing), the prints will not crack, fade or peel from the substrate under normal conditions.

Methods of Using A Sublimation Printer With Sublimation Ink And Sublimation Paper

Sublimation paper is a critical element of creating quality sublimated items. Sublimation paper, like Beaver TexPrint XP sublimation paper, is coated so it will not absorb the sublimation inks and will release the sublimation inks from the sublimation paper easily with the use of a heat press.

Additionally, tacky sublimation paper such as Beaver TexPrint Tacky sublimation paper is coated with a light tacky coating which keeps the sublimation paper in place during the heat transfer process.
There are literally hundreds of different items you can decorate. One of the main applications is to decorate fabric for apparel and soft signage. You can also decorate hundreds of polymer coated substrates including mugs, tiles, plaques, coasters, interior signage, etc. Unisub makes an entire catalog full of sublimation blanks. The majority of photo gifts you see offered in the market place are made with sublimation. Click here to see sublimation samples including sublimated apparel, flags and tiles.

An iron can't reach 400 degrees and it won't be able to provide even and heavy pressure. A good heat press for sublimation is the George Knight DK20S heat press. It is a heavy duty heat press for a reasonable price that has the ability to press thicker blanks if you ever want to get into decorating plaques. Be aware that cheap heat presses from abroad don't provide even, accurate heat and most are likely to fall apart in the first year of use.

How to solve problem of sublimation transfer paper---ghosting and gassing out

All forms of apparel decoration present challenges that must be overcome; it’s simply a natural part of the learning process. You didn’t jump in the driver’s seat of a car and instantly start driving. It took training, time, patience — and probably a lot of close calls — before you became proficient behind the wheel. The same can be said about decoration production; you learn with experience.
Sublimation requires a tight marriage between the transfer paper and the blank product during pressing. If the paper shifts or is not firmly planted against the substrate, it will result in ghosting or gassing out

Ghosting causes a blurry image, typically characterized by a shadow effect along or outside of the edges. Gassing out results in a “burst” of ink outside of the image area.
The key here is a tight fit between the transfer paper and substrate. Use heat-resistant tape to secure the transfer to the product and don’t tape across the image area, as this can damage the image quality. In addition, use only a minimal amount of tape, as you will need to easily and quickly remove the transfer after pressing.
When sublimating apparel, you can use “repositionable” spray adhesive instead of tape. Apply a light mist on the image side of the transfer paper from about 10 inches away. Do not spray the shirt. Then press the transfer paper onto the product. If you position it incorrectly, you can lift and reposition it.
Regardless of how you adhere the transfer paper to the product, it’s important that it doesn’t slide along the substrate’s surface during removal. This may spread sublimation dye into unwanted areas and cause ghosting. Ideally, with hard substrates, the transfer will be lifted off the surface quickly and cleanly. With apparel, it may work better to grab one end of the paper and pull it away slowly, while firmly holding down the garment.

Magical relationship with Cartridge and Ink?

A printer is usually provided with a cartridge and specification on the number of prints it is capable of producing per cartridge. It is advisable to use the same brand of black ink cartridge for the corresponding printer, as they are known to function flawlessly. Companies selling printing accessories offer high quality and long lasting black ink cartridges that need fewer refills and hence prove to be more productive.

Diverse varieties of ink are broadly classified into dry and wet ink. Ink utilized in laser printers is toner, that is a dry power-type substance. The ink used in other printers, which include the desk jet series, is liquid ink. The ink, no matter if dry or wet, is stored inside a cartridge which is placed in the printer.

The cartridges are produced in such a manner that refilling them is an straightforward task. Nonetheless, this must be completed professionally or the cartridge will cease to function. The printer ink cartridge industry has seen an excellent demand in refilling of cartridges as this functions out as a less costly option when compared with purchasing a new cartridge. They're an efficient and economical option to getting new ink cartridges. Inexpensive printer ink cartridges are often re-manufactured printer cartridges that regularly provide high requirements of prints with higher efficiency when delivering clear and crisp images.

Printers require two major elements to function; one particular is electricity along with the other is ink or toner. The ink is usually a restricted resource and desires to be refilled or replaced from time for you to time. Buying a new printer ink cartridge could be pricey. Having said that, refilling is less costly yet equally effective. The black ink printer cartridges are made for exceptional professional quality black text and graphic reproduction.
An ink cartridge is really a removable element of all kinds of printers. The cartridge functions as a shop for black ink and act as a medium to apply the ink in a designated manner around the paper. The cartridge is docked in to the printer and location closely above the printing surface in the paper. A printer may make use of a single ink cartridge and hardly ever two cartridges. The cartridge includes ink reservoirs, electronic elements, and an electric chip that connects the cartridge towards the printer.

Best Technology To Obtain Awesome Shirt Printing

Sublimated shirt is very light in weight and growing popular among the teenagers. The shirts are designed by using the latest advanced rugby technology. It is made in such a way that it easily soaks away all the moisture and heat from the skin. Sponsors and sports team use the sublimated shirts for the promotional purpose without doing embroidery or screen printing on sublimated shirts.
The sublimated shirt is made by keeping three factors in mind that are design, construction and quality. It helps in creating the distinct image of the team by designing the attractive sublimated shirts by using the own creativity. The use of cutting edge technologies creates stunning design possibilities with unparalleled delivery time. These shirts are printed with the help of unique Dye Fusion process. One can easily design these shirts by using airbrush and appliqué apart from the dye fusion process.
The main elements present in the sublimated shirts are polyester poplin, dazzle, mock mesh and milikenpoly. Polyester Poplin is an easy care type of fabric which has comfortable drapes nicely and does not lose shine even after repeated washings. Dazzle is a fabric of nice body that got a great shine. Other features of dazzle are fine ribbed texture, durability and stretch.
Another important element of sublimated shirts is mock mesh that is a polyester fabric takes away all moisture and dries very easily in less time. It is very light, breathable and stretchable. Milliken Poly is a soft type suede micro-fiber fabric which gives a luxurious looks to the clothes with a feature of dense weave making the material remarkably durable for daily use purpose.
With the development of booming economy, heat sublimation printing is increasingly widely used in digital printing, especially in fabric printing market, to appeal to the demands of customers.

Sportswear & Swimsuits with tacky/sticky Sublimation Transfer Paper

The garments are many times decorated via the sublimation process, but you will also find these being decorated with vinyl. While I know I was somewhat knocking vinyl for the volleyball athlete, today's thinner vinyl can be a great addition to a swimsuit. For a suit you will want to use the thinnest vinyl you can cut and also find something that has a very aggressive heat activated adhesive. This vinyl can be the standard color vinyl or many times you will also find swimsuits decorated with solvent imprinted vinyl. Let's not leave out the screen printing process. You can use athletic plastisol ink to decorate most swimsuits, but I do recommend that you check with your ink supplier for their recommendation on the specific blend or material you are decorating.

For years and years the sports jersey and performance fabric industry was dominated by dye houses and vinyl lettering. There was a lot of cotton being used and still today that business is strong. Things have changed though, and the polyester performance jerseys are becoming the normal. No longer do you see the solid color jersey with the one or two color name and number on it. You are now seeing excellent design, multiple colors and more. On top of all that, the garment can enhance the athlete performance by winking away moisture and keeping the athlete cooler. Jerseys today are no longer just to designate a number; they, and the digital transfers they are decorated with, are part of the athlete's performance.
The big player in the volleyball world when it comes to apparel is Mizuno. At most of the national club volleyball events they have a large booth set up to sell and promote their products. I always peak in to see what they have and to add to my collection (yes I'm a bit of a volleyball nut). Right out front of the booth was a large banner that read "ASK US ABOUT SUBLIMATION JERSEYS!" Now you can go to their website and check out their sublimation and cut and sew offering. This was huge in my world because someone was actually talking to the public about sublimation.
