Different machines you need for dye sublimation printing

Sublimation or heat transfer printing is the application of sublimation inks onto a surface using a heat press to provide the required combination of heat, time and pressure. This combination causes the inks to be converted from a solid to a gaseous state enabling them to penetrate the material so that a permanent, full color image is formed. The color penetrates the surface of the item so that the result is colorful, long lasting and resistant to scratching unlike some other printing methods that merely print onto the surface of the item.
YOU’LL NEED DIFFERENT MACHINES FOR DYE-SUBLIMATION
Printing is only the first step of the process in dye-sublimation. For sublimation to take place, you need heat and pressure.
Successful dye-sublimation requires the following two-part process:

Print graphics onto special transfer paper using sublimation inks
Use a heat press to transfer the ink-on-paper to the item you want to decorate
If you’re planning to use your dye-sublimation printer for applications that include everything from apparel to décor and soft signage, you’ll also need the following essential items:

Computer and RIP Software
First and foremost, you’ll need a computer and software to design and process your digital graphics for printing and to manage your overall print production. Not all sublimation printer manufacturers supply software with their machine which means you’ll have to research different RIP software and ensure that it’s compatible with your printer. Fortunately, the Roland Texart RT-640 is bundled with ErgoSoft Roland Edition RIP that was created especially to support both 4-color and 8-color sublimation printing.

Cutting Device

Initially, you’ll need a rotary blade and hot knife for simple cutting of knit materials and for the cutting and sealing of woven fabric but you’ll ultimately need an X/Y table cutter or digital flatbed cutter/plotter with registration capabilities for accurate knit and woven cutting and for effective pattern cutting if you plan to print and sew your own apparel.
Sewing Device
Apparel and soft signage production requires some manner of sewing and hemming for custom apparel, custom upholstery, banner pole pockets, and silicone edge sewing for SEG graphic applications (a special tension frame system that’s used for creating easy-to-install soft signage.) This requires a manual sewing machine for apparel and small signage solutions and computerized automatic sewing machine with auto-command and auto-feed features for large format joint and hemming.

Stunning Cycling Jersey made by dye sublimation printing technology

Why choosing dye sublimation cycling jersey
Several good reasons. The look, feel, and comfort of the performance fabrics we use in our sublimation process makes it an easy choice. Unlike screen printed, embroidered, or tackle twill logos, numbers & names, that can be very heavy, scratchy and uncomfortable against the skin, sublimation has no weight or feel since it's directly dyed into the fabric. Sublimated text, logos, and graphics will not crack, peel, or fade.
Dye sublimation relies on the use of modern polymer-based synthetic fabrics for the chemical bonding process. When heat and pressure are applied the ink sublimates from the sublimation transfer paper to the fibers of the fabric, creating an inseparable bond that is extremely durable, flexible, UV resistant, impervious to chemicals like chlorine/bleach, and has none of the weaknesses of other methods like screen or vinyl printing.

For this process to be most successful we generally recommend at least 70-80% synthetic content in your fabric of choice. Some may say that being unable to print on traditional fibers like cotton is a drawback, but today's textile world offers a choice for almost everything. Examples like synthetic silk, breathable sportswear fabrics, velvet, or a more durable version of canvas for homewares come to mind. We love helping our clients source their ideal fabrics and are able to supply fabrics direct to consumers.

Best Way Sublimation Printing On Polyester Fabric

Without a doubt, dye sublimation printing is one of the most effective methods for creating a whole range of customized and personalized products on-demand. This means you can deliver an almost limitless variety of creative and profitable applications, that will enable you to extend your range of services to your existing clients, or indeed open up a spectrum of new markets to you. With inkjet dye sublimation printing, you can print onto a vast range of fabrics and coated surfaces in many widths and lengths, including stretchy sports fabrics and heavy canvas.
So why do we need to print onto polyester with dye sublimation printing? Polyester is a plastic, so when enough heat is applied, it begins to melt, allowing the pores to open up. When heated, the dye sublimation inks change from a solid to gas, and this gas can then enter into the open pores. This means that it is possible for the ink to be transferred to the polyester fabric or the polyester coated hard surface. This is not possible for materials such as cotton, paper, wood or wool which scorch and burn when exposed to temperatures required to activate dye sublimation inks (typically 180-200°C ). But don’t worry, you are not going to be limited to just 100% polyester fabrics. As we have already mentioned, there are many products and materials which are coated with polyester, and they look stunning when printed. The opportunities are extended further through the availability of polyester sprays, allowing you to coat products yourself.

Why choose dye sublimation printer for you textile business?

You know that print quality is just as important as photo quality? In order to build a successful business, you need to produce quality prints. The best way to ensure consistent, high quality photographs is to hone your skills as a photographer, of course, but also to have the best equipment. When it comes to printing beautiful images, a dye-sublimation printer may be your best option.
What is a dye-sublimation printer?
A dye-sublimation printer uses heat to transfer dye onto subli-paper. This process works to create a gentle gradation at the edges of each pixel, producing a continuous tone.

Great Photo Quality
The dye-sublimation process produces higher quality images than other types of printing processes. Unlike inkjet printers, which lay down tiny individual dots, dye-sublimation printers use heat to vaporize and permeate dye onto paper for a smooth transition of color. The result is a more realistic-looking photograph. Not only are dye-sub photos of higher quality, they are also less vulnerable to fading and other dangers, like water damage, over time.

Convenient Printing
Dye-sublimation printers have had a reputation for slow printing in the past, but things have changed. There are many models of dye-sublimation printers that print at high-speeds and at a high capacity. This function makes dye-sub printers perfect for on the spot printing at events or theme parks. There’s no need to worry about photos getting tarnished by smudges, either. Photos are dry and ready to handle the moment they exit the printer.

Variety Features
Dye-sublimation printers come in many different shapes and sizes. If you need your dye-sub printer on the go, many companies offer compact models. If your business requires a high volume of prints in a short amount of time, a dual deck model may be the way to go. Many dye-sublimation printers produce multiple image sizes and photo finishes. Some are designed specifically for photo booth printing, while others are best suited for event photography and use in a portrait studio.
