Why using UV Vanish on UV printing?

Every year, UV technology is in development, in innovation. Today we mainly talk about UV varnish, also called clear ink by some suppliers. In order to help users understand UV varnish objectively, we list the pros and cons below:
Pros:
The varnish can be covered the whole or selected areas of substrates to increase durability and provide a pleasant gloss finish. (The gloss quality depends much on the amount of varnish applied.)
Varnish contains UV light stabilizers, able to reduce fading, yellowing, cracking, peeling. It's helpful to print varnish on images that clients need to display for the gallery.
Varnish offers a similar look as lamination, but it is much cheaper in fact. It's a good way to bring more profits.
Cons:
1. The head lifespan will be shorter once you print varnish
UV varnish is a kind of transparent liquid, similar to UV ink, but has higher viscosity. Therefore, when you print out varnish, the head gets blocked easily, causing shorter head service life. Such as Toshiba printhead, Konica printhead, Seiko printhead, Ricoh printhead…Among them, the Toshiba head and Ricoh Gen5 is more likely to get clogged due to smaller droplet size.

2. The working environment is strict
No matter which kind of UV printer has higher environmental demand when printing varnish. It's better to have a cleanroom. Even in a dust-free workshop, dust cannot be completely controlled, and there may still be dust in the printed product.
Especially when the UV printer prints large format (or full size) image, the surface of the printed varnish is more prone to dust particles.
Of course, if you print a small area or partial varnish, it is easier to control, but it is not 100% perfect.
3. UV printer printing varnish affects production speed
In general, if the UV printer needs to print varnish, the print head prints white first, then prints the color behind it and then prints the varnish.
When the white print of the picture is completed, the varnish just starts printing. Therefore, if the device needs to print varnish, the speed is reduced by a third.
If UV printer needs full-face printing varnish, it is better to use special equipment–UV coating line, which is more efficient.
