What's The New development of KIIAN Hi-Pro?

A recent innovation within digital textile transfer printing is the possibility of indirect sublimation printing onto low-coated or uncoated papers. This introduces new possibilities for textile printers, who previously only had 2 options of printing indirect transfer onto coated papers, or to use direct sublimation printing. The fact is that if you are able to sublimation print on lower grade, uncoated paper, you can now achieve high productivity at reduced cost, without compromising quality. And this is now possible with the introduction of next generation inks.
Sublimation printing onto coated papers is already an established process for indirect digital textile printing, and for sublimation ink technology itself, this is based on the property of dyestuff.
The application of the ink is made by inkjet printing with piezo technology, onto sublimation paper. Traditionally the paper must be coated in order for the ink to adhere properly during the sublimation process. This is followed by drying, coupling with the substrate, which the colored effect has to be adhered by the hot transferring of the color, by calendar or flat press, at a temperature range of 180 to 220°C, for between 30 and 180”.
With the introduction of next generation inks, such as KIIAN DIGISTAR HI-PRO - more choice is given to the printer who may now print on uncoated, lower cost papers that have a much lower weight (g/m2) than the traditional coated papers.
The use of the uncoated, lower cost papers with new inks such as DIGISTAR HI-PRO significantly reduces production costs (that are meant as the sum of the cost of the ink and the cost of the paper) of about 30-40%. Only sublimation inks with a particular formulation enable the use of this kind of paper. These inks have to be formulated, so that they have a higher color power than the standard ones, being able to assure a bright chromatic effect, by “opposing” the paper absorption, caused by the lack of coating. At the same time, they have to dry quickly on the paper – whilst remaining stable during printing - so that they can enable high productivity.

How to solve Sublimation “Ghosting” and Shrinking issues?

There are two main types of sublimation paper in the market now, the “high-speed”(in China we call it “quick-dry” or “fast-dry”), and the “Tacky” (Sticky)sublimation paper.
You could find many descriptions and instructions about the high-speed sublimation paper, but the tacky sublimation paper, you could only find the result that it is used to prevent the transfer from ghosting, especially used for elastic(stretch)textile. Because the information you could find is too little, so some clients are confused about whether choose the high-speed sublimation transfer paper ,or the tacky paper.
Today we are going to talk about the tacky sublimation paper completely, hope this article will help you a lot of knowing the advantages and disadvantages about it.
Ghosting is a double image in sublimation transfer. After the sublimation transfer is finished, if you see a light shadow in your result, that is ghosting.
When getting a double-image doing sublimation printing, there are several causes for this, however this is always occurring at the end of the printing cycle. When the press opens, the transfer paper moves, or the fabric moves/shrinks, or more likely the fabric shrinks and contracts and the paper is still sublimating and printing its inks, even after the press opens. This happens a lot more with short pressing times, versus longer pressing times (that get more ink out of the paper).
First issue: The fabric is Moving/shrinking after the press opens up. The transfer continues to send inks onto the fabric, in a different spot. Thus the double-image / Ghosting effect.
Solution: Extend your pressing times longer. This will get more ink off the transfer paper, and there will be less ghosting effect. Do a pressing at 70 seconds, and take note of the results. also try pre-pressing the shirt (in-between cover sheets of craft/newsprint) and then do the transfer.
Pre-pressing all the moisture out and pre-shrinking the shirt is also a huge help.
Second issue: The transfer paper is moving. As the press opens, the paper can “float” and land in a new position and continue to sublimate.

Solution: Tacky paper tends to be the ideal solution for paper shifting, as well as Fabric Shrinkage. Sublimation Tacky Paper keeps everything in place, the paper doesn’t move, the shirt doesn’t shrink and move under the paper – everything stays together.
Sticky Sublimation Transfer Paper, professional for high-grade elastic fabric, can effectively solve the transfer printing due to the transfer of fabric and transfer paper ghosting, deformation and other issues. With the same quality of international paper, has a longer shelf life, lower prices.

What's advantages of Continuous ink supply system?

Normally do photo porcelain like porcelain, digital computer due to using sublimation transfer ink, leave the continuous ink, is very difficult to use even for a lot of related problems, now simple explanation, to provide reference for the friends; Continuous ink system was used continuous ink is just for one reason - to save money. This is indeed true, using continuous ink can indeed reduce the cost of many materials.
Using the principle of continuous ink through the sublimation machine catheter connect the ink bottle and ink cartridge, use of atmospheric pressure will continuous pouring into the cartridge and ink for printing. According to the structure of the classification of continuous ink system is mainly composed of three parts, respectively is to print cartridges, ink and ink the catheter. Print cartridges is original cartridges, in order to ensure the quality of printing reduce fault, continuous ink usually adopts the carrier of original made print cartridges to be modified.
Ink cartridges: original cartridges contain sponge, ink contains impurities can be a good filtering effect, but the ink absorption of the sponge print bolt failure. Now also appeared in the market without modification of the sponge cartridges. This kind of ink cartridge although there is no sponge, it is not easy to appear thermal transfer printing machine break line fault, but its about web filtering area is small, the filterability of the impurity is poorer, easy to cause the nozzle block.
The ink bottle: the ink bottle is a device which provide even for the ink. From the ink bottle by catheter sending ink to print cartridges. The ink bottle are usually adopts bottle shape appearance and structure of constant pressure. This is mainly because the design of the ink bottle easy to repeatedly fill and low use cost.

Ink duct: ink duct is connected to the thermal transfer printing ink and the ink bottle line. Including line accessories, such as pipe clamp, line CARDS, etc. Go line components were developed to facilitate the line and a fixed line, usually with little damage to the printer itself structure for wiring.
We should pay attention to is: in the shutdown state to remove old cartridges and replace the new cartridges. Replace the cartridge, heat transfer machine will be to fill ink ink transfer system, and the process in the shutdown state will not be able to undertake, makes the hot stamping machine can't detect reinstall ink cartridges. At the same time, some of the heat transfer machine for the measurement of the ink capacity is the use of thermal transfer machine internal electronic counter to count, especially on the usage statistics of color ink, when the counter reaches a certain value, the thermal transfer machine run out of ink.

What about Industrial Light-weight 70gsm sublimation paper?

The 70gsm light-weight sublimation paper is designed to save time and money by increasing process efficiency in industrial textile printing. Transfer times and/or temperatures can be reduced significantly and still achieve the same vibrant colours any SKYIMAGE®product is standing for, Especially suited for industrial printers(e.g. MS Italy, DGI, Mimaki TS500 and Reggiani printers).
About its advantages, it's Ultra-fast ink absorption and drying, Excellent runnability and outstanding efficiency and Enhanced color release and densities.
Any fabric having polymeric cellular structure can be sublimated with 70gsm sublimation paper. While you do need at least 60% polyester fabric to successfully dye sub print, it is better to use 100% polyester because you will attain a superior print if 100% of the fabric accepts the dye when it enters gas form and is inducted into the open polymer pores. What you may not know is how this process works and why polyester fabric is the best product for dye sublimation, whereas cotton, wool, and even nylon will not work for this type of printing.

Once the sublimation paper is printed, it is joined, print side to whichever type of material you are using, then put through a set of heated rollers. The heat must be in excess of 370º F (190ºC) to cause the dye to be converted into a gaseous form, and also to cause the polymer’s cells to open as they expand to accept the now gaseous dye into the cells.
Once this process has taken place, the fabric cools, the cells close, and the color is permanently locked into the fabric in continuous tones of beautiful color, similar to a photograph’s tones.
Without the cellular construction of the polyester fabric and it’s polymeric qualities, it would not be possible to print using dye sublimation. So, the more polymers, the better. So the answer is, of course, yes and no. We recommend using 100% polyester, but it’s not an absolute requirement.

What should sublimation transfer paper pay attention in use?

Dye sublimation is a printing process that uses heat transfer sublimation ink onto fabrics with sublimation paper. Polyester and other synthetic fabrics are the most common types of fabrics used in dye sublimation. But, it can also be used to transfer dye onto plastics and papers as well.
Printing on fabrics is becoming increasingly popular because it is a great and easy way to enhance any environment whether it be the interior of your office, signage at stores, your display at trade shows, or used outdoors.  Dye sublimated fabrics allow you to create innovative designs which are not possible with other materials.  They allow you to produce signage and displays that stand out among the clutter and capture consumers’ attention.  With so many types of fabrics available to print on like textured and stretchy polyesters, spandex, meshes, and knits you are sure to find a fabric that will achieve your businesses’ needs.
What should we pay more attention to when sublimation printing?
Noticed the temperature factor, stress is also a factor that cannot be ignored. In the process of use, you must keep the whole design of the machine to receive strength evenly in various places. Second, the pressure is too high not too low. Pressure is too high, the thermal transfer paper on the pattern will be distorted, too low, there is no way to good transfer the pattern to surfaces. In use process, the temperature is a decisive factor, each machine has its appropriate temperature. Allows for the appropriate temperature around a certain fluctuation, but if the gap is too big, will greatly affect the final appearance of the product. The temperature is too low, then there was no way to complete pattern on the membranes of the thermal transfer move to items above. But not too hot, the temperature is too high, thermal transfer film on the pattern will be distorted, as well as influence the final effect. Using the principle of thermal transfer film with you as a child playing with map is very similar, are talking film or pattern is transferred to the things on the map. When I was a child played map almost no technical content, put where you want to stick. As a result, this also caused a lot of people an illusion, since using the principle of thermal transfer film heel stick figure is like, it must have this machine is also very simple to use. Actually the fact is not the case, although the principle is the same, but the real application, thermal transfer film in transferring pattern to the item's operation, contains a lot of details, if not pay attention to these details, so often can not reach the expected effect.

What limits for 88gsm sublimation paper printing?

The right combination of fabric and sublimation ink is the first step on the road to a beautiful and durable print. We have specialized in sublimation paper manufacturing for printing on polyester and polyester blends, and we always recommend using the transfer technique for these fabrics.
Well there has to be a catch! The truth is, sublimation does have some restrictions. As a retailer you have to keep certain things in mind while choosing or ordering these wholesale sublimation clothing.

These are the things you have to watch out for 88gsm subli-paper:
1.White/Light garments only. Sublimated color blend with the color on which they are printed, so the best result comes from printing on white garments. As it is more expensive, you can choose to have an entire garment printed.
2.Polyester garments only. But the material should not be that heavy.  The largest amount of modern performance fabrics, moisture-wicking fabrics, and the like are made of polyester. Comfortable, even cotton-like textured garments are being made in sublimation-friendly polyester.
3. Higher price per piece in large runs. There comes a point when a large enough run of sublimation will become more expensive than traditional screen printing. That said, even if the blanks are slightly more expensive, for small runs, the reduced setup fees often make sublimation more economical for full-color or photo-realistic designs.

Do fabrics need to be 100% polyester for dye sub printing?

While you do need at least 60% polyester fabric to successfully dye sub print, it is better to use 100% polyester because you will attain a superior print if 100% of the fabric accepts the dye when it enters gas form and is inducted into the open polymer pores.
What you may not know is how this process works and why polyester fabric is the best product for dye sublimation paper printing, whereas cotton, wool, and even nylon will not work for this type of printing.

Starting with the dye, it is necessary to know that the dye is not the same type of ink as inkjet inks which use the CMYK (cyan-magenta-yellow-black) ink set, but instead, use a CMYO dye set (cyan-magenta-yellow-overprint clear) where the clear, when it is printed on the dye sublimation transfer paper, turns to black and transfers that way.

How to choose good sublimation ink for your inkjet plotter?

Literally, any kind or brand sublimation ink that is compatible with your sublimation printing equipment.
Sublimation printing has become a popular method  for printing images on T-shirts, mugs and even tiles. They are used all around the world because of the premium quality of images that it produces. This quality of images largely depends upon the quality of ink used during the printing process. A good quality ink will not only improve the quality of print, it will also help you get the most out of your money. So before you purchase sublimation ink for your industrial printer, following things should be considered.
  • Choose the Ink with the Smallest Sublimation Dye Particles
As a rule of thumb, the smaller the sublimation dye particles the better will be the result. If you are looking for fine and smooth printing on shirts then pay heed to the size of the particle. The info regarding the particle’s size can be found on the packet or bottle of ink purchased. Also, a sublimation ink with dye particles that aren’t tiny can clog the nozzles or printing head of the sublimation printing machine thereby adversely affecting the quality of the print and also resulting in increased cost of maintenance.
  • Choose the Ink with High Color Reduction
When buying ink for your printer, you should only choose the ink with high color reduction. This will ensure that images printed on the T-shirts or mugs are vivid and sharp.
Not in favor of spending money on higher brands? If you chose a lower quality brand over a superior one when it comes to buying sublimation ink then there definitely is a problem. Good quality brands are generally more expensive than the lower quality ones and thus many people are inclined to buy them but if you are in the market to by a good quality sublimation ink then remember that a good brand is a guarantee of superior quality ink. In a nutshell, in the world of sublimation ink, brand matters.
  • Purity of the Ink Color Matter Too!
While choosing a sublimation ink you have to keep in mind that the purity and the deepness of the color matters too. When purchasing a sublimation ink ensure that the color is deep enough and won’t even change slightly after it is printed on the desired surface. Poor quality of sublimation ink may not only produce substandard type of image, it will affect the performance of your printing machine too.
  • In the End, Don't be Thrifty When Buying Sublimation Ink
Most of the sublimation inks that are cheaply available in the market are not made up of dye; rather a major portion of such inks consists of water. This increases the drying time of the ink and thus reduces the production. It is therefore, imperative that you invest in high quality sublimation inks which are usually a bit expensive but are a good value for one’s money.

Some tips to choose high quality sublimation paper

Sublimation transfer printed graphics are colorful, rich, and its effect can be comparable with the printing, sublimation transfer is hot in the heat transfer sub-ink heat sublimation into the object from sublimation paper, condensate after the formation of brightly colored images. Therefore, the thermal transfer products are durable, the image will not fall off, crack and fade. This is the sublimation of digital printing more and more widely popular.
But some points we should pay more attention to:

Ink compatibility
As a professional sublimation transfer paper manufacturer, the production of transfer paper as much as possible to adapt to a variety of transfer ink, making the transfer paper coating on a variety of sublimation ink solubility appropriate, so that the ink pattern on the transfer paper can be fine The embodiment does not penetrate the coating in the end paper caused by low transfer rate.
Paper wrinkled damaging print head
Inkjet type paper requirements wrinkling of the paper the smaller the better, if the wrinkle is very likely to print the paper will damage the nozzle, especially when the rough paper when the big head Sassafras head more easily hurt the delicate nozzle Some companies in order to reduce the cost of coating in the formula to add rough inorganic powder, making the transfer paper surface as sandpaper. To reduce the way the paper wrinkles mainly from the base paper, the original paper wrinkled hours coated, Small, followed by improved coating formula to achieve the purpose of reducing the wrinkling of the transfer paper coating formula is the use of nano-materials to ensure that the transfer paper surface smoothness in more than 3 seconds, will not hurt the nozzle.

Paper impurity spots
The spot (impurity point) on the surface of the transfer paper is an important indicator of the transfer paper which may be produced on the base paper and may also be produced in the coating or production process. The spots are heavily hazardous to large areas of solid color printing but are printed on fancy Has little effect. China-made transfer paper prevalence problems, Suzhou, the whole company to do a lot of research on the elimination of spots, the spot generation and elimination methods have done a lot of efforts, from the base paper to the coating formula and production processes are strict Regulations and control, but the current 1-2 per square meter spots, with the new formula put into operation and equipment is expected to eliminate the spot to achieve the international advanced level.

The Differences between Sublimation printing and heat transfer printing

Sublimation heat transfer is a special printing. The main feature is the transfer image colorful, rich layers, and its effect can be comparable with the printing, and printing difference is that the thermal transfer is at high temperatures so that thermal transfer ink sublimation heat, penetrate the surface, after condensation Forming a brightly colored image.
Therefore, the sublimation transfer product is durable, the image will not fall off, cracking and fading. Not plate, highly personalized.
And usually we see a lot of cups on the surface of the pattern is the traditional kiln or silk screen to achieve, so printed out of the single pattern and color is not rich, and the system can only be achieved in the factory inside, And is mass-produced. Heat transfer process eliminates the plate-making process, the main feature is the transfer of colorful images rich level, will not fall off and fade;
Sublimation thermal transfer is the use of disperse dye sublimation characteristics, that is printed on the transfer paper on the dye transfer temperature reached, the dye began to volatilize, and constantly penetrate into the fabric gap until the dye on the transfer paper run out or tend to use Finished, the less residual dye on the transfer paper, indicating the transfer on the fabric of the more, that is, the higher the saturation, the more rich color patterns, The more realistic. This is the sublimation transfer paper quality level of a core element
As the dye sublimation process is spread to the fabric, so the sublimation pattern does not change after the transfer of the original texture of the material, printing parts of breathable, comfortable to wear, feel and feel good.
